HAPPY MONDAY!!!! I am so excited about our upcoming week! We have a lot of great things in store and I am excited to see it all unfold! I hope you enjoyed our fall festival, I had a blast! I had a flight to catch that night to Orlando (IB training) and I waited to the last minute to leave …I arrived on two wheels to the airport trying not to miss my 9:00 P.M. flight! Thank you for having an open mind about this event; our students had a blast. I hope that you did too! I look forward to this being an annual event for our students and community!
Monday marks the 59th day of school which means there are only 45 days remaining in the first semester. 59 days down… 122 days to go! Thank you so much for all that you do and I appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond to INCREASE LIFE CHANCES FOR OUR STUDENTS.
There are some exciting things happening at Fickett, please make sure you read the entire blog.
I wish everyone a smooth 13th week of school!

Curriculum and Instruction:
For the past two months, we have given weekly feedback to inform your practice and support you through PLs and PLCs and our plan is to continue. We are taking this support further by giving you a TKES checklist to show you where you stand regarding TKES ratings as of now. Be on the lookout for an email to pick up your TKES checklist. The admin team (Stroud and I ) will have the checklists in our possessions, we did not want to place them in your boxes of fear of someone having access to your ratings. If you do not have the desired ratings you would like and you want to improve your practice to be a consistent practice, you have time to do so.
When you receive your checklist, Please please look at the “As of right now ratings” to see what needs to be done to improve, the instructional coaches are ready to dive in to support you as well as the admin team. I think it is highly unfair for you to receive “a needs improvement” for the first time on a legal document so I hope you see this as a chance to improve, perfect, and make the indicated areas a consistent practice in your classroom.
The formative Announced Observations will start December 6th. Remember, we are looking at the totality of evidence, not just one snapshot. In order to be proficient you must consistently demonstrate the TKES indicator and in order to be distinguished, you must go above and beyond outside of the classroom to affect change.
Please note, this is a very time-consuming process; however, you are important enough to make sure that your practice is solid to help move our students in a positive direction.
Classroom Walk-Throughs: This will be our focus for this week:
- Evidence and solid implementation of the Week at a Glance. Remember, your lesson at Glance must be roadmap to what you are teaching,
- Data Notebooks (Students should be able to use their data notebook to speak to their progress in Math and ELA.)
Check out our top three A.R. classes on each grade level!!! Mr. Everett’s class made the two million word count category!!! Awesome!
